1. Introduction

 

AgentXL is the real estate focused implementation of XLsuite, which aims to present and automatically update real estate listings from the real estate board.


AgentXL evolved out of the real estate websites that we developed for Rick Stonehouse and other realtors. After several years of developing solutions for individual real estate agents, we have developed our own set of tools, best practices and marketing advantages.

 

Its functionalities will be expanded over time while growing the value of your investment in less than six months. We add new features to your AgentXL setup on a monthly basis, so this manual will be renewed each time when that happens.

 

Your platform consists of two sides: frontend and backend.

The frontend is the side your visitors see and use. The backend can be accessed using your login credentials at the address http://yoursite.com/admin, and it is mainly used for setting up the frontend.

The first page you see when you go into the backend contains the Landing Page tab and the left collapsible sidebar.

 

In this manual your main focus will be on the Landing Page tab and its content. Notice the three items in the menu: Start, Design, and Content. In the lower left sidebar you can see the submenu options of each of those items. They change as you click the main options to switch focus.

 

In the top right corner of the Dashboard you will notice the current version of software for your suite: 3.1 and a Preview link. Click on the version number to find out which are the new additions and bugs solved in this version and the preview link to see the changes you have done to the frontend: it will open a new tab/window (depends on your browser) and load the first page of your website, located at  http://yoursite.com.


 

2. Things you can do

 


Some of the unique features that our application provides include:

  • Social Listings (ratings and comments on every listing)
  • Embeddable Listing Manager (Place your listings on other sites)
  • Affiliate tracking for awarding finders fees
  • Single Listing Domains (launch a site for a clients property with a few clicks)
  • Highly Search Engine Optimized

Plus the normally expected features such as auto responders, drip campaigns, google map integration, client management tools, blogging and full access to the content management system.

3. Your Dashboard

You will administrate, organize, change and upgrade all the information displayed on your site from the Dashboard that is located in the Backend side of the platform. Learn to use these functions as you read and carefully apply all the following instructions of the manual.

 

 4. Start


4.1. How to add a new post

 

1.     From the “Start” menu choose “New post”;

2.     Type the post title in the “Title” area;

3.     Type the new post in the area below “Title” area.

 

                                                                   

                                 

              

Tip: if you prefer to use Microsoft Word, Open Office Writer or Wordpad to order your ideas, you should know that a text pasted directly from one of those programs might contain some formatting errors.

 

There is an easy way to "clean" the word files of their code:

 

  • Open NOTEPAD on your PC and paste your text in there first.

  • Then copy the text out of your text editor and paste it into the Body area of your blog post

    All the formating code from the word processor will have been removed, avoiding conflicting styling between your sites CSS code and the code in the individual blog post.

 
A second option is to use the `Source`edit button to paste in your text with the code.
 
You will want to remove any styling code outside of standard 'h1` & `p` tags
                                
                                 
                               



4.1.1. How to format text using WYSIWYG editor

4.1.2. How to insert an image, an mp3 or a video in your post


  •   From a website:

1. Click on Embed

                          
                                    


2. Choose “URL”


                     
                                       


3. Paste the URL you want and click “OK”


                    
                                      

 

  •  From your computer:

1. Click on “Embed”

2. Choose “File Manager”


                       
                                      


3. Click “Upload”

 

                                       
                                        


4. Choose “File” in the “Upload from” field

5. Click on “Browse” in the “Upload” field, choose the file you wish to upload and click on the “Upload” button; when the upload is completed, click “OK”

6. You can write a title and a description for your photo, but it is not necessary; also, you can optionally put tags.

 

                                        
                                        



Tips:

  • You can resize an image just by playing with its margins;
  • The files you choose to upload must have less than 8 MB.

4.1.3. How to publish your post

  • After writing and formatting your text, just click the “Save” button below. If you wish not to publish your text immediately, you can choose to save it as a draft, by clicking “Save as Draft” button.

                           
                             


4.2. How to delete a blog post


1. Click on "Manage Blog Posts" from the "Quick Links" section;

                              

                          
                             



2. Select your blog post, click "Actions" and choose "Delete"


                     

4.3. How to change a blog post


1. Click on "Manage Blog Posts" from the "Quick Links" section;


                                  
                                       


2. Select the title of your blog post and insert the title you want.

                    

4.4. How to edit a blog post


1. Click on "Manage Blog Posts" from the "Quick Links" section


                    
                            


2. Click on the icon near the title and start editing


                              

4.5. How to add a new real estate listing

 

1. In the "Start" menu choose "New Listing";

2. Insert the information about the address and other details in the designated area and click "Create."


                                 


Tip: If you want to tag the listing or add extra information scroll down and click "Other" and "Create" after you finish


                                                     


                                     
"Other" info includes TAGS which is what is typically used to display the listings on different pages.

For Example:

Creating 3 listings pages called "East", "West" and "Downtown" that render listings tagged "East", West...

Tagging the posts with one or several of the tags is all you need to do to make the listing appear on different pages, or even websites in your network.



4.6. How to report a bug


1. From the “Start” menu choose “Report a bug”;


                                           
                                            


2. Write a title and a text about the bug you wish to report in the designated areas;

3. You can also make a screenshot of the bug you have noticed and attach it to your report (optionally);

4. Click on “Kill the bug” to send us the report.


                                       

 


5. Design


5.1. How to choose a default design


1. From the “Design” menu click on “Choose a default design”;

2. Choose the design you like the most and click “Save.”


                                         
                                        


                                        


5.2. How to change the color of your theme


1. From the “Design menu” click on “Custom settings”;

2. Click on the little square near the item you wish to modify, pick your color from the color picker and click on “Set”.


                                         


5.3. How to add an image in your theme


1. Go to “Resources” in your Admin Panel and choose “Files”


                                            
                                                


2. Click on “New” and choose the image from your computer (you can add a title, a description and tags, but this is optionally) and click “Save”


                                        
                                               


                                               

3. Return to the landing page and choose “Custom settings” from the “Design” menu


                                         
                                             


            4. Scroll down to “Images” and write your image title near the item you wish to modify (attention: you must use /z/image-name.jpg) and click “Set”


                                             



5.4. How to choose the font family of text in your website


1. Go to “Design” menu and click “Custom Settings”

1. From the “Content” menu choose “Homepage”;

2. Decide whether your Custom Content appears on the Homepage;

1. From the “Content” menu choose “Homepage”;

2. Make sure you have previously agreed to display the “Custom content” field;

3. Write your text in the designated area and click “Save.”

6.2.1. How to manage your header


1. In the “Content” menu choose “Header”;

2. Choose the item(s) you wish to display and click “Save”

6.3.1. How to change the links in your menu


1. In the "Content" menu choose "Menu"

2. Choose to overwrite your menu and click "Save"

3. Make your changes in the "Overwrite Menu" section and click "Save"
   * It's often easier to click the "code" box and edit the raw code to set the menu manually


                               


6.3.2. How to change the position of your menu


1. In the “Content” menu choose “Menu”

2. Choose between “Top” or “Sidebar” and click “Save”

                                         
                                                


6.3.3. How to rename the links in your menu


1. In the “Content” menu choose “Menu”

2. Write the titles you wish in the designated areas and click “Set”


Tip: If you do not need so many links in your menu, just delete one or more titles and click “Set.”

6.4.1 How to choose the blocks in your sidebar


1. In the “Content” menu choose “Sidebar”

2. Choose the sidebar blocks you wish to have in your menu and click “Save”

6.4.2. How to change an image (and its URL) in the sidebar promo


1. In the “Content” menu, choose “Sidebar” and scroll down to “Sidebar promo images”;

2. Write your image title in the designated area and click “Set” (you need to upload the image by keeping the code “/z/”)

3. Type the URL in the designated area and click “Set”


                                    

6.4.3. How to change your sidebar position


1. In the “Content” menu, choose “Sidebar” and scroll down to “Sidebar position”;

2. Choose between left or right and click “Save”


                                            

6.4.4 How to edit the text in your sidebar


1. In the “Content” choose “Sidebar” and scroll down to “Edit sidebar custom text box”;

2. Type the title in the designated area and click “Set”;

3. Type the text in the designated area and click “Save”;


                                   
                                        


6.4.5. How to make your sidebar disappear


1. In the “Content” menu choose “Sidebar” and scroll down to “Sidebar display”;

2. Uncheck the designated area and click “Save.”

1. In the Content menu choose "Sidebar" and scroll down to "Edit sidebar welcome note for visitors"

2. Type the message in the designated area and click "Save"

2. Write your favicon name in the designated area after you have uploaded it (do not forget to keep the code “/z/”) and click “Set"
